Jääportit - Voimasuo
Upon the swamp glows a flickering fire. A little by little The Gates of Ice starts to shine beyond the mist, possessing its shape from the gushing vigor of the swamp. Storm wind blows polluted air and change is inevitable. Temperature rises and ice begins to thaw. The Gates starts to transform. The exterior layer of ice vaporizes while the interior coldness condenses.Tuomas and Mindy performs seven songs on the Vigor Swamp. While most of the songs are instrumental, Mindy sings at the song Hengenvaara (Mortal Danger). She also plays the acoustic violin and Tuomas deals with the rest sounds with his modest keyboard by combining experiments made with distorted electric guitar-like instrument, organ, deep bass lines, rhythmic drum beats, synthetic and electronic sounds. Finally Tuomas finished the album with his computer at the studio base, Kajekammio. Mindy used pastel colors to create the album cover artwork, where salient snake reflects eternal transformation. The current essence of Jääportit feels intense, strong and polymorphous. Familiar feeling of peaceful ambient dream from the earlier releases has been broken down to reveal the austere reality around us. It’s hard to fit the album in conventional categories, because it’s kind of a musical labyrinth, definitely worth of exploring.
